Electronic music
Electronic music is a wide term or genre denoting any music which is created by using any kind of electronic equipment. Any sound created with the help of an electric signal may be called electronic. That's why the term electronic music often refers to the style of music which is played on conventional acoustic instruments only because that electronic amplifiers were used during recording or live performance of such music (for example in traditional music or jazz). Of course, this is not what we are used to think about when we hear about electronic music today. The term electronic music as a marketing term is the music that was created mainly with the help of electronic means such as synthesizers, samplers, computers, drum machines etc. Thanks to business and marketing this is exactly what most of us believe electronic music to be. The most popular type of electronic music is so called electronic dance music (or electronic club music).
Today electronic music is experiencing boom in its development as electronic technologies, especially computer technologies have revolutionized and simplified numerous processes that were previously required for musicians to create their work. Today literally everybody having a computer with a modern microprocessor and a good sound card (and some knowledge in the field of course) can create his or her own music which may equal or even be better to the quality of music created in traditional and expensive studios. There are now hundreds of styles of electronic music.
