Folk music

Folk music, or sometimes called traditional music is the music of a separate nation or culture. It carries a part of the nation's originality and identity in itself, it reflects its mentality. Some of its subtypes have become known only due to various investigations and expeditions (for example philological expeditions) that were designed to study the centuries-old customs, traditions and everything that has made nations what they are now. And a part of the individuality of a nation is music. It's amazing that all peoples in all countries on every continent of the world have their own unique music traditions, some of them are more related to each other (like in European countries, especially the neighbouring ones), some of them have no analogue in the world. Folk music has passed from one generation to another and thus became better and more varied as newer generations tried to introduce some changes and improvements into both the lyrics and the music. And this time-proved character of folk music makes it ever-popular among the people of this nation. Unfortunately, during the end of the twentieth century there's been a negative trend of forgetting everything traditional including music as the process of globalization proceeded. At the same time it would be wrong to say that folk music has stopped in its development - today we can witness new reincarnations of traditional tunes adapted to modern and popular music styles like pop or rock music (one of the most popular styles today is folk-rock).
